Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to various summits while in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
